Abstract:
This research study focuses on assessing the determinants of warehouse performance at Tena
Oil Factory in Kality, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The study employed a descriptive research
design to investigate the impact of warehouse layout, inventory location, warehousing
management systems, and effective communication on warehouse performance. Thus, the
research aims to identify and analyse how these factors contribute to warehouse efficiency.
Through a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, data was collected from 162
employees and top managers at the factory warehouse. The main tools of data collection will
be questionnaires and interviews. A stratified sampling technique was employed to select
samples and gather data through questionnaires. These methods were utilized to identify the
relationship between independent and dependent variables. The findings revealed significant
insights into the factors influencing warehouse efficiency, highlighting the importance of
optimizing warehouse layout, inventory management practices, and communication strategies.
Key findings indicate that effective communication and Warehouse management systems have
the most substantial impact on warehouse performance, followed by layout design and
inventory location. Recommendations are provided to improve warehouse operations,
addressing challenges such as skill deficits, lack of motivation, and inadequate management
support. Furthermore, the study contributes valuable knowledge to the field of logistics and
supply chain management, offering practical recommendations for enhancing warehouse
performance in the context of the Oil industry in Ethiopia.
